Jenni Hicks Ceramics
My work is often sparked by elements of nature. Starting points may be the sudden bloom of fungi in the autumn drizzle or a sheep's jaw found by my dog on the Quantocks.
I make most of my work by coiling and hand-building, using my fingers. Often drawn to black, iron-heavy clays, I like to create contrasts of texture and finish such as the jewel-like sheen of a celadon glaze against a black matt body; to mix glazes to produce unexpected and sometimes chaotic effects.
If you are interested in buying or commissioning please get in touch. My studio is near Hampstead Heath, London.
